Journey Down Life’s River

Journey Down Life’s River

When I was a child I almost drowned. It was either sink or swim. Well, I learned to swim! At least doggy paddle. LOL!  One day I was pulling myself along the buoy line that was at the local lake. As I pulled myself along the buoy cable I reached further out into the water which was way over my head. I began to get confident and began to pull myself faster along the buoy cable and out into the middle of the buoy line. What I didn’t realize was at the middle point, where one side met the other, the buoy lines went diagonally down to the ground deep in the water. They were anchored down into the ground at the middle point which kept them from floating away.  As I pulled myself along rather quickly and confidently I began going down which caught me off guard and I panicked!  I let go of the cable, began sinking, and gulped in a lot of lake water.  It was either sink or swim!  I was frantic and splashing and kicking but somehow I began to doggy paddle and made it back to the buoy cable.  After that I told myself never again and each day that I went swimming I began slowly learning how to swim so that never happened again.

In a way life is similar.  After working for 30 years. I decided to work from home.  At first I was a little shaky.  You could say I was pulling myself along the buoy lines at first.  What exactly was it that I wanted do?  Was it being a Freelancer?  The answer was an astounding yes!  I began to think about what I could offer to a business or individual as a Freelancer.  I began looking at interesting jobs such as data entry and office administration.  I said hey I have the experience and know-how. I can do that too.  Why not?  So, I retired from my local county job and here I am today.  Sometimes in life you have to take a leap of Faith and step out of the box and do what your heart desires.  At least for me anyways.  I have always enjoyed helping others resolve their problems. I have always been a big factor at work when it comes to that. So, this is my very first post.

I will continue to write from this day forward and keep my status updated as a Freelancer. I am currently constructing a professional website that has my portfolio.  It isn’t completed yet so I will not publish that website for now.  I am currently building my clientele and open for work. You can reach me at my Facebook Page which is https://facebook.com/realpaulsergent

Virtual Assistant / Freelancer

Veteran! Retired from the US Army. While in the Army some of my positions were: Office Manager, Operations Manager, Recruiter, Assistant Operations Manager, and Training Supervisor. I then went on to be a Juvenile Corrections Officer for a short period of 6 months. Afterwards, I was a Jailer supervising adult inmates. While at the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office I wore many hats and for four years I was the IT over the entire Sheriff’s Office and Jail. Although, I performed many duties there, a couple of things that are worth noting are: I implemented a new Records Management System throughout the entire agency and upgraded all of the computers to Windows 7 and some to Windows 10 before I retired. These are just a couple of examples of my work. I then began working from home as a Freelancer and Virtual Assistant. I enjoy helping others. Some of my many skills are Information Technology, Administration, Office Management, Data Entry, Microsoft Office, Technical Writing, and much more…
